Theni, Tamil Nadu:
A 19-year-old girl succumbed to injuries she received while she was trying to commit suicide after a man harassed her at her residence at Bodinayakanur in Tamil Nadu on Saturday, police said.
Pandeeswari tried to hang herself from the ceiling of her house, but fell off the stool she had standing on and suffered head injuries.
Police said she tried to kill herself after the accused, Satheesh Kumar, 23, came to her house along with his friends with a marriage proposal and threatened her in front of her father.
She was rushed to the Government Medical College where she died without responding to treatment.
Police said they had registered a case and were looking for Satheesh and his two friends.
