Tamil Nadu: Bathing Banned in Courtrallam Falls Following Heavy Rains

Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu: Bathing was banned in the famous Coutrallam falls in the district after it turned torrential following unexpected heavy rains today.

Officials said they had banned taking bath in the main falls and Indharuvi (five falls) in view of heavy water flow.

The falls located in Tenkasi is a major attraction for tourists and has been clocking large arrivals in view of summer vacation in recent days.

They said the tanks and ponds in Thenkasi area were getting full. However there was no rain in the catchment areas of Manimutharu and Papanaasam dam.

Heavy rains accompanied by strong winds lashed the coastal districts of Ramanthapuram, Pudukottai,and Kanyakumari also.

Interior areas like Madurai and Sivaganga received light showers with skies remaining overcast, bringing much-needed respite from sweltering summer heat
