Rallies across Andhra Pradesh on May Day

Hyderabad: Rallies, meetings and hoisting of flags marked the May Day celebrations in Hyderabad and across Andhra Pradesh today.

Members of CPI, CPI (M), Telugu Desam, YSR Congress and various other organisations took out rallies and conducted meetings in Hyderabad and at Visakhapatnam, Karimnagar, Kadapa, Adilabad, Tirupati and in different parts of the state and highlighted the role of workers.

Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana and State Labour Minister Danam Nagender participated in May Day celebrations organised at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad where they hoisted the May Day flag.

At another programme organised by the Labour Department at Ravindra Bharati, Nagender said Rs 1 lakh financial assistance will be given to the children of labourers for their higher education and he also announced construction of 'Labour Buildings' in every district of the state.

On the occasion, the Minister released a book 'Karmika Kiranalu' and presented 'Shrama Shakti' awards for employees and also gave away best Management awards.

TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, who participated in May Day celebrations at NTR Trust Bhavan in his address to party workers criticised labour policies of the state government.

CPI State secretary K Narayana, CPI (M) state secretary B V Raghavulu and YSR Congress honorary president Y S Vijayamma unfurled party flags at their respective party offices and addressed the party leader and workers.

AITUC, affiliated to CPI and CITU of CPI (M) took out rallies at various places and participated in May Day celebrations by hoisting flags.

Similarly, different trade unions hoisted the red flags at their respective offices in Hyderabad and other parts of the state.
