Rahul Gandhi sits on top of police vehicle, sparks controversy
Alapuzha: Rahul Gandhi's visit to Alapuzha in Kerala to attend a youth Congress rally has triggered a controversy after CPI(M)'s state secretary and NCP youth leaders criticised the Congress vice-president for sitting on top of a police van.

NCP youth wing state secretary, Advocate Mujeeb Rahman, has filed a police complaint stating that Mr Gandhi has was not only breached security but has also defied the Motor Act.

However, the police has stated that Mr Gandhi was assisted in sitting on top of the police vehicle by his security personal to interact with the people after the crowd got unruly.

The Congress No. 2, who was expected to walk 5 km with the rally participants, had to mount the police vehicle after just 10 minutes of walking since he was being mobbed. He later got into his vehicle.

The police have not filed an FIR based on the complaint yet. The complainant has said that he will move the court tomorrow.

Meanwhile, CPI(M) state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan said,"Rahul Gandhi behaved like a joker in Kerala."
