No hike in LPG price effective in Kerala: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy
Thiruvananthapuram: Denying any hike in price in LPG cylinders, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy today said that, "if at all there is any hike, the state government will forgo the Value Added Tax (VAT) earned due to the increase in the price".

Mr Chandy said he has communicated to Oil Minister Veerappa Moily that any hike would be completely unacceptable to Kerala.

The chief minister also maintained that the state will do its best to ensure that the common man will not have to bear the burden of any hike.

The Kerala government has got an extension of two months to roll out Direct Tax Benefits through direct cash transfers since the state has had only 57 per cent of Aadhar card holders linking their numbers to their bank accounts, despite nearly 90 per cent of the population having Unique Identification (UID) numbers.

The chief minister, however, had asked for an extension of six months.
