Mexican dance student missing

Virudhunagar: A 36-year-old Mexican student learning "Mohiniyattam" classical dance at a deemed university of arts and culture at Thrissur in Kerala has been reported missing since April 9, police said.

Her husband Manric (40), a PhD student at Kalasalingam University near Srivilliputhur, in his complaint said he had seen off his wife Acosta, at  Krishanankovil on April 9 after which he had not heard from her.

Manric said she had not call him as usual on reaching Shoranur near Thrissur, where she was staying in a rented house and had not responded to his e-mail messages.

When he tried calling her on the cellphone, someone picked it up and disconnected it. Staff at Kerala Kalamandalam in Thrissur said she had not returned.

Police said Acosta used to board the bus from Krishnankovil to Madurai from where she would go to Thrissur.

They said Acosta, who started on the morning of April 9 from Krishnankovil, should have reached Thrissur late in the night.

They presume someone might have misled her or that she might have gone to a friend's place as she is on vacation.

Police said they are in touch with their counterparts in Thrissur district to coordinate efforts to trace her.
