Kerala traders to observer 12-hour closure on October 3

Kozhikode: The 'Kerala Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithi' (traders front) said on Monday that their shops in the state would remain closed from 6 am to 6 pm on October 3, protesting the "attitude" of Safety Food Inspectors.

The Samithi would take out a protest rally and hold dharma in front of Safety Food Office in the city, T Nazirudheen, State Samithi President, told reporters in Kozhikode.

He alleged that the Safety Food Officers were projecting businessmen in Kerala as thieves.

Meanwhile, the Kerala Hotel and Restaurant Association, Kozhikode said that they would also close down their establishments on October 3 seeking control of rising prices and rectifying flaws in the implementation of the Food Security laws in the district.
