Kerala to get five new cyber police stations

Thiruvananthapuram: Five new cyber police stations will be set up in Kerala, raising their number to six, a minister said on Thursday.

Addressing reporters in Thiruvananthapuram, state Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said the decision was taken at a high level meeting of the home department.

"Today there is just one cyber police station and the number of registered cyber cases have crossed 10,000. Hence we have decided to set up one new cyber police station under each of the four range inspector general offices in the state and one under the Crime Branch," said Radhakrishnan.

He added that Kerala has three crore mobile phones.

"We have also decided to seek the help of professionals from various fields including software... to help solve cases," added Radhakrishnan.
