Kerala forest minister's resignation sought

Kottayam: Kerala Congress (B) president Appachan Vettithanam on Saturday demanded the resignation of forest minister Ganesh Kumar from the ministry "as he is not obeying the party."

Speaking to mediapersons here, Mr Appachan said, "If Kumar is not obedient to the party, its chairman and his father R Balakrishna Pillai, it is very difficult for him to continue in the KC(B), an ally of United Democratic Front."

The course of action to be taken against Mr Kumar will be decided by the state executive committee meeting of the party to be held on Sunday in Kozhikode, he said.

Earlier, Mr Kumar said that he would not resign from the cabinet as he had not done anything wrong.

He said that his party was hijacked by a "group of corrupt persons" who were now ruling it. The party should be redeemed from them, he said.
