Judicial remand of Tamil Nadu fishermen, caught by Sri Lankan Navy, extended to July 4

Rameswaram: The judicial remand of 49 Tamil Nadu fishermen, arrested on June 5 and 6 by the Sri Lankan Navy, has been extended to July 4.

According to information received by officials in Rameswaram today, the Mannar court Judicial Magistrate Anandhi Kanakarathinam extended the remand of 24 fishermen.

They have been lodged in the Anuradhapuram Prison in Sri Lanka.

Officials said in the other case, Oorkavalthurai Judicial Magistrate Devarajan extended the remand of 25 fishermen.

The fishermen from this island were arrested for allegedly entering the Sri Lankan waters.
