Jayalalithaa files complaint against Ramadoss, Tamil weekly

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Monday filed a complaint against PMK Founder S Ramadoss for criticising her stay at Kodanad estate at Kotagiri recently and the editor of a Tamil weekly for publishing his remarks in its August one edition, which were allegedly defamatory.

In the complaint filed in the Principal Sessions Court on behalf of Jayalalithaa, City Public Prosecutor M L Jegan alleged that Mr Ramadoss had "maligned" the Chief Minister by stating that she was being "inaccessible" to the bureaucrats and other government officials by being away for months together.

Besides, he had charged the government with "corruption", which was also per se defamatory.

The complaint said the remarks "are imaginary and without any basis. The remark, which was carried in the "Ananda Vikatan", was derogatory and made with the intention to malign the reputation of the Chief Minister".

The complaint also sought to punish Mr Ramadoss, the publisher, printer and editor of the weekly, besides the reporter who took the PMK chief's interview.
