Chennai: Former DMK Minister Mr Veerapandi S Arumugam died at a private hospital in Chennai today. He was suffering from respiratory problems. Arumugham was the Agriculture Minister during the earlier DMK regime in Tamil Nadu.
As a mark of mourning and respect for the DMK stalwart, the party has directed all its units to fly the party flag on half-mast for three days. It has also cancelled all party programmes for three days.
The senior DMK leader hailed from the Salem district of Tamil Nadu. Last month, the Madras High Court had set aside his arrest under Goondas Act.
