Eight injured in building collapse in Bangalore

Bangalore: Another day, another building collapse in one of the major Indian cities. In Bangalore, an under construction apartment block collapsed this morning injuring eight workers.

Search is still on to look for those who might still be trapped in the debris.

One man, Biji, said his 22-year-old brother, Niranjan, was trapped inside.

Corporation officials say there had been clear building violations.

Permission had been given to the builders only for the ground and two additional floors. However, more storeys were being built.

Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Commissioner M Lakshminarayana promised action against two municipal engineers, under whose jurisdiction the area in south Bangalore reportedly fell.
