Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh:
As many as 40 houses were destroyed in a fire that broke out in Narava village in Ranasthalam mandal in the district last night.
Fire tenders were not available in Ranasthalm, and before one from Srikakulam arrived, villagers had brought the blaze under control.
There were no casualties but families lost all their belongings as houses with thatched roofs burnt down, officials said.
Damage was estimated at around Rs 20 lakh. Cause of the blaze was yet to be ascertained.
