A rude awakening
- Sunandini Ramakrishnan

Speechless, we watched the terror unfold, A shiver down the spine , felt the blood run cold Ten youths held a whole country to ransom, Unleashed a horror, not one could fathom

The Taj has stood tall in beauty and grace Welcoming one and all in a warm embrace Yet today she looked helpless ,at her tower ablaze As she cradled the dead in the bloody carnage

Elsewhere an orphaned child, cried in fear With no one but the nanny to wipe a tear A shooting spree at a busy station , Innocent lives lost in this brutal operation

A religious order--is that what this is??
Killing harmless folk-an act of cowardice Why don't they target the men in power Who lie to the world to wage a personal war

Do our leaders know the pain of losing someone dear Snug in their security can they understand the fear, While they own the law ,the courts ,the wealth of our country Their coffers richened, from the common mans' misery
