Police files charge sheet against Pune blast accused

New Delhi: Five suspected Indian Mujahideen operatives, arrested in New Delhi for last year's Pune blast, were tasked by their masters to arrange logistics for carrying out strikes in the national capital, Delhi Police has told a local court.

Several IM cadres were also hiding in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, it was informed.

The disclosure was made by police in its charge sheet filed recently against the five IM suspects who were arrested after the August 1, 2012 blast.

Asad, Imran, Sayed Feroz, Langde Irfan Mustafa and Sayed Maqbool were part of an advance team of their module to arrange logistics for terror strikes in the capital, the Special Cell of Delhi Police said in the charge sheet.

The investigators also said they were briefed by the same people from across the border who were guiding the 26/11 handler Abu Jundal.

All the five accused have been listed in the charge sheet under section 120B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC, the Explosive Substances Act and the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.

The charge sheet, filed in the court of chief metropolitan magistrate Vidya Prakash, also names eight suspects including LeT commander Fayyaz Kagzi, who was Jundal's senior in college and was also involved with him in the 2006 Aurangabad arms haul case.

Police said Imran, Asad and Feroz came to Delhi as an advance team of their module to arrange logistics for carrying out blasts in the capital. Langde and Maqbool were also part of the module.

After their arrest in October 2012, Imran and Asad disclosed that they were briefed by Kagzi and Riyaz and Iqbal Bhatkal (IM founders) to arrange for logistics and material for bomb blasts in Delhi and were facilitated by one Raju Bhai, a contact of Bhatkal brothers.

The charge sheet said they disclosed their involvement in the Pune blast and revealed that several cadres of LeT and IM were hiding in Mumbai, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

The police also recovered explosive material from their possession which was being used to make bombs.

Other accused Feroz also reached Delhi on October 1, 2012 and was arrested. The police then arrested Mustafa from Jaipur and Maqbool from Hyderabad.

The charge sheet said the accused had visited Saudi Arabia in 2007 and had meetings with Kagzi. He then introduced them to the Bhatkal brothers, who motivated them for terror strikes in India.

The police has said that after his arrest on June 21 last year, Jundal had revealed that underground modules of LeT are procuring explosives, arms and ammunition in pursuance of their elaborate plans to carry out terrorist strikes at vital and sensitive installations across India.

The police said based on this disclosure, it deployed sources in Maharashtra to trace LeT cadres but in the meantime August 1, 2012 Pune blast was executed.

It received information that some suspected terrorists belonging to Aurangabad and Nanded who had recently visited Saudi Arabia could be behind the Pune strike.

In September 2012, the police received information that the suspects of Pune blast had gone missing from their places and had gone to South Delhi via Roorkee, the charge sheet said and added that Imran and Asad were found living in south east Delhi under another identity.
