Class 12 Student Murdered On Campus Near Pune

Police claim, two or three men stabbed the teenager in front of fellow students and college officials.

Pune: A Class 12 student was stabbed to death by unidentified persons at a college in Talegaon near here on Friday morning.

According to a police officer, some unidentified persons entered the college campus and brutally stabbed 17-year-old Chetan Dattatray Pinjan.

The attack occurred around 11.30 am, when hundreds of students were on campus at Indrayani Mahavidyalaya for Arts, Commerce and Science at Talegaon Dabhade, the police officer said.

Describing the attack on the junior college student, the police officer said: "Suddenly at least two-three assailants came on a motorcycle and accosted the 17-year-old victim."

"They brandished knives and and other weapons and started stabbing the boy. He fell down even as the horrified college students, teachers and other staffers looked on helplessly."

After the attack the assailants sped off on their motorcycle.

College authorities rushed the student, who was bleeding profusely, to a nearby hospital, where he later died in the intensive care unit.

The police have registered an FIR and launched a manhunt for the assailants and are questioning college authorities and students who witnessed the incident.

Though the motive behind the attack is not yet known, preliminary inquiries have revealed that Mr Pinjan was involved in a heated argument and fight with some of his classmates on Thursday, the police said.
