  • Gautam Gambhir started off pretty well on a pitch that was supposedly 'typically sub-continent'. He was run-out, though, just as he was looking to step it up. Pat Cummins was absolutely brilliant to get him with some exceptional 'football skills'.
  • Irfan Pathan looked set to justify his opening the batting as he hit 31 runs from 30 balls but failed to capitalise falling to Watson in the eleventh over.
  • India's primary reason for not getting quick runs was not being able to hit out against Brad Hogg who ended up conceding just 29 runs off his 4 overs.
  • Pat Cummins was economical and deadly at the same time taking crucial wickets of Dhoni and Yuvraj which prevented India from getting a decent partnership. He finished with 2/16 in 4 overs.
  • MS Dhoni's 15 runs from 21 balls did not help India's quest for a big total as they failed to make the most of the middle overs.
  • Suresh Raina scored a vital 26 towards the end to help India reach 140/7 in their 20 overs which at the time seemed a decent score.
  • Shane Watson however had other ideas and smashed his way to 72 off just 42 balls hitting 2 fours and 7 sixes. With David Warner keeping him company with an unbeaten 60, the Aussies finished off the match in the 15th over winning by 9 wickets. It was a heavy defeat for India who now have to pick themselves up before Sunday's clash against Pakistan.
