  • The opening match of the sixth edition of the Indian Premier League saw Kolkata skipper Gautam Gambhir win the toss. His decision to field was backed up by a solid performance by his side as Delhi Daredevils lost the match by 6 wickets. (BCCI image)
  • Mumbai Indians took a cue, perhaps, from Kolkata and opted to field against Bangalore. The result this time though was not in the favour of the team winning the toss.

The visitors fought hard but lost the match by 2 runs. (BCCI image)
  • Some say it is a trend in IPL to win the toss and opt to field.

Pune followed the 'trend' when they chose to field against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Victory though eluded them when their batting collapsed on 104 and the match was conceded by 22 runs. (BCCI image)
  • Rajasthan Royals chose to jig things up a bit and opted to bat against Delhi. It was a wise decision from skipper Rahul Dravid as his side secured a 5-run win despite playing as the away team. (BCCI image)
  • In their second match, Rajasthan were asked to bat by Kolkata but it really did not matter as the bowlers in the side ensured that the team cruised to a rather comfortable win - by T20 standards. (BCCI image)
