British Grand Prix: Qualifying Session

Fernando Alonso of Ferrari took the pole position in the final Qualifier of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

It was top honors for Ferrari in the Qualifiers as Fernando Alonso secured pole position for the British Grand Prix on Sunday.

Heavy rain however forced the second qualifier to be stopped as the stewards struggled to clear the track of all the excess mud and water.

Drivers were struggling to keep control of their cars on the slippery surface.

Mark Webber kept the flag flying high for Red Bull as he came second in the Qualifiers.

Mercedes had a top three finish as Michael Schumacher took the third position ensuring them a good start in the final race.

Nico Hulkenberg was pushed down to the fourteenth place on the start of the grid for Sunday's race after a gearbox change penalty. His teammate Paul di Resta, though, was the lucky one to enter the top ten.
