Bangalore's 24-run win over Chennai in pics
Royal Challengers Bangalore scored a comprehensive 24-run win over Chennai Super Kings in match number 70 of the Indian Premier League late on Saturday night (May 18, 2013) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Bangalore remain in the hunt for playoffs as their chances depend on the game between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The match was marred by rain that took away three hours of the match time. The groundstaff put in the hard yards to dry out the damp areas at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on May 18, 2013. (BCCI image)
With the match finally starting as an 8-overs-a-side affair, Gayle and Kohli had no option but to go hell-for-leather from ball one. Gayle did his part by scoring a 13-ball 28, including 3 successive sixes off Jason Holder. (BCCI image)
Zaheer Khan broke the back of the Chennai batting by taking two wickets in two balls, first getting Michael Hussey caught behind, then getting Suresh Raina caught in the deep. (BCCI image)
Dhoni's 10-ball 24 was enterprising but when he started to find the middle of the bat, the asking rate had gone well past 20 runs an over. Dhoni hit 2 fours and 2 sixes before falling to Zaheer Khan. (BCCI image)
Zaheer came back in his second spell to get rid of MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja, making sure he ended with 4 wickets in two overs, giving away 17 runs. (BCCI image)
The RCB players, after completing a 24-run win, gave a lap of honour to their home crowd that witnessed its last game this season. Now Bangalore's playoffs hopes lie with Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders. (BCCI image)
