Narendra Modi, Gujarat's longest serving Chief Minister, has been inducted into the BJP's parliamentary board, the party's highest decision-making body. This follows his re-election for a historic third successive term after the BJP achieved a landmark victory in the 2012 state elections. Mr Modi's entry, hence, into the select 12-member party board is a milestone in his career since it will also set him up for a bigger political role at the national level. Many in the BJP see him as a potential candidate for Prime Minister in the 2014 general elections.
