Achieving the upliftment for Dalits may be difficult, but politicians certainly want to make sure they get their votes. And one such incident came to light in Bihar were a JD(U) MLA wooed voters with bar girls.
On Saturday evening, a day before the Maha Dalit rally in Patna, the MLA got bar girls at his place to entertain audiences. The bar girls were hired to draw people to the rally.
Shyam Bahadur Singh organised a dance in his house for Maha Dalits, who had come from his constituency. The MLA even danced with them.
He, however, apologised later and said, "I agree that I have committed a mistake. I am apologising for that. Hang me, punish me or let me go, but I apologise."
Commenting on the incident, Rashtriya Janata Party (RJD) chief and former chief minister of Bihar Lalu Prasad Yadav said that the party would be raising the issue in Parliament.
The incident has come as a huge embarrassment for party chief and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who is leading the Maha Dalit rally in Patna on Sunday.
