Inside Dholpur Palace, Which Has Turned Into a Political Landmine

The Dholpur palace, located about 40 km from Agra, originally belonged to the royal family of Hemant Singh, the estranged husband of Ms Raje, who is the Chief Minister of Rajasthan. It is now listed as an asset of a firm co-owned by Lalit Modi, BJP leader Vasundhra Raje and her son, Dushyant Singh.

The palace, with eight rooms and 18 villas according to its website, is run as a luxury hotel by a firm Ms Raje co-owns with her son, Dushyant Singh, and tainted cricket tycoon Lalit Modi.

"The property is under renovation and no rooms are available," said hotel staff who answered calls today. They said they do not know the rates for the rooms or villas.

Travel website Booking.com lists a ‘double room with pool view' at Rs. 7,500 + 8.4% tax.
