Ahead of International Yoga Day, Nation-wide Practice Begins

As the International Yoga Day is within sight nation-wide practice begins. Many participants were seen today performing various 'asanas' throughout India.
To honor International Yoga Day, Indian Army at 58 Gorkha Training Centre in Shillong practices yoga today. Celebrations are being held in India after the United Nations declared June 21 as International Yoga Day, with 177 countries voting in favour.
The proposal for the International Yoga Day was mooted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his first address to the UN General Assembly in September last year.
Today, NCC cadets practice Yoga at Leh. The June 21 mega event at Rajpath is expected to see participation of more than 35,000 people including government officials, NCC cadets, diplomats and others.
Preperations at Shahibaug Cantt, Ahmedabad begin as Army personnel of Golden Katar Division practice Yoga. Across the world, the International Yoga day will be observed in more than 250 cities.

To observe the importance of International Yoga day, prisoners in Tihar jail practice Yoga today. Thousands of officials and about 5,000 children will be performing yoga in a 35-minute Yoga programme scheduled at 7.30 am on Rajpath, New Delhi on Sunday.
