Nintendo launches the Wii-U

Nintendo today announced that their next generation home console will be called the Wii-U.

In a press briefing the company showed-off the revolutionary new controller which will ship with the Wii-U.

Satoru Iwata, president Nintendo, announced that Kid Icarus, the popular Nintendo 3DS title, will also come on the Wii-U

Reggie Fils-Aime, president Nintendo USA, announces the latest games arriving on Nintendo consoles.

Seen here is a demo of the graphical capabilities of the Wii-U.

The Wii-U remote will offer gamers the capability to play their games either on the television or on the 6.2-inch Wii-U controller display.

Gamers will have the option to utilize the controller screen from normal game UI and stats while they can enjoy their games on the large screen free of UI obstruction.

Wii-U will work with the Wii remote and Wiimote+.

Nintendo showed-off massive developer support with the likes of Batman Arkham city, Assassins Creed Revelations, Battlefield 3, Darksiders 2 and many EA titles coming to the console.

Nintendo showed-off the new controller and third party developer support but did not disclose the main console and did not even give any launch date. The console will be launched anytime after the first quarter of 2012.

Nintendo also announced the 25th anniversary edition of Legends of Zelda that will come to all Nintendo consoles.
