His major film roles include An Officer And A Gentleman, Pretty Woman - he was nominated for a Golden Globe for both – and Runaway Bride. He won a Golden Globe for Chicago in 2002. Gere is a practicing Buddhist and visits India very often as an active supporter of the Dalai Lama.
