Indian Matters: Caste-ing the Muslim vote

It might be micropolitics but social engineering by the Peace Party, launched by a surgeon in 2008, reveals a significant trend of oppressed Muslim sub-castes asserting themselves against the elite Muslims who have dominated vote bank politics in and around Varanasi. The Peace Party wants to use this for its electoral advantages; it's the sort of politics Mayawati was the most natural inheritor of. The Peace Party thus becomes more sociologically interesting.
