10 Year Rigorous Imprisonment for 4 Men in Gangrape Case

Seoni: Four men were sentenced to ten years rigorous imprisonment for gangraping a minor school girl after abducting her, by a court in Lakhnadoun town of this district.

According to the prosecution, the four -- Kamlesh Nema, Dharmendra Sahu, Ashish Patel and Yeshwant Sahu -- all in their 20s, had abducted the girl in a car on December 4, 2011.

After reaching an agricultural area, they took turns to rape her there.

Later, they abandoned her at a place in Lakhnadoun town and fled.

Based on a complaint by the victim, a case was filed against the four men under relevant sections of IPC.

Following a probe, the police arrested them and submitted the case for trial in the Lakhnadoun court.

Second Additional Sessions Judge S K Joshi yesterday sentenced the four men to 10 years Rigorous Imprisonment after pronouncing them guilty under sections 366 (kidnapping) read with 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), 376 (2)(G) (gangrape), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC, the prosecution said.

A fine of Rs 2,000 was also slapped on each of them by the court.
