Astronaut's Tweets Show How South India Looks From Space
After sharing spectacular pictures of South India during the festival of Diwali, American astronaut Scott Kelly has shared more stunners of the Indian peninsula from up above.

The astronaut, who is spending a year in space beginning March last year, is the longest-living US astronaut to do so. Currently on the International Space Station for over 280 days, Captain Kelly - who retired from the US Navy - shared breath-taking and extremely rare glimpses of South India's "blue waters" and "sandy and green" coast from space.

Altogether the images have been retweeted over 5000 times and have been liked by over 11,000 people on Twitter.

Here's a look at Mr Kelly's picture of South India during Diwali.

The images bring back memories of Indian astronaut Rakesh Sharma's description of India from space, to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi back in 1984 - Sare Jahan Se Accha, Hindustann Hamara...

Captain Kelly is accompanied on the 342-day mission by Russian colleague Mikhail Korniyenko. They will return to earth in March this year.
