Noida: Noida police has arrested a person for allegedly making a hoax call warning that the Red Fort in the capital will be attacked on Independence Day.

The call was received early this morning at around 3 am and they immediately shared the information with their Delhi counterparts.

The call was traced, and the caller was found near the boundary walls of Red Fort a couple of hours later. After interrogating him police said that he posed no threat, but he was arrested for making the hoax call.

The man, Vivek Anand Paswan from Saharsa in Bihar, had converted to Islam and had changed his name to Abdur Rehman. Police described him as a follower of Maulana Masood Azhar and 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed.

The capital has been under high alert for the past few days not only as part of Independence Day preparations but also because of two intelligence bureau inputs which said that the capital could be targeted by terrorists around this time.
