New Delhi: CBI has claimed to have recovered two kg of gold from the Assistant Project Engineer, Noida, Ramendra in connection with alleged corruption case involving Noida Chief Engineer Yadav Singh.

CBI sources today said recovery was made after the he was taken into custody in connection with the case on December 18 making it first such arrest in the high-profile corruption case.

The sources said besides gold (worth about Rs 50 lakh as per present rates) agency has also found documents of properties which are being evaluated.

They said the agency might soon call some big fish for examination in the case. Ramendra, directly reported to Singh, and allegedly maintained a diary in which meticulous details of the bribe collected from builders and contractors were maintained and how these funds were distributed among officials of Noida.

The sources claimed that the agency had found details of how the bribe received for various projects percolated to even the lowest rung of officials working in the Noida.

CBI had registered a case against Yadav Singh on allegations of criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery and provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act against him.

There is also a second case of allegedly amassing disproportionate assets.

Ramendra has been arrested in the case of corruption, the sources said.

The sources claimed Ramendra had also revealed the names of officials who were entrusted with collecting bribe and its distribution through a chain of officials at various levels.

Yadav Singh is believed to have been handling projects worth Rs 8,000 crore in Noida and was also made Chief of the Yamuna Expressway project for a brief period by the state government.
