Two explosions rocked the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar on Thursday evening, according to reports. Unconfirmed reports said five people were killed and 100 others were injured.
 
The first blast took place in Qisa Khawani Bazar and the other at Kabari Bazar. The blasts occurred at a time when the markets were very crowded. Eight shops and over 40 vehicles have been completely destroyed. Rescue operations are on and emergency has been declared in Peshawar hospitals.

The blast came a day after a suicide gun and bomb attack in the city of Lahore killed over 20 people and wounded nearly 250. The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the Lahore attack, saying it was a revenge for an army offensive in the Swat region.

After Wednesday's explosion, the Pakistan government went on record to say that they would not withdraw their operation to flush out militants from Swat.
 
It seems the government needs to heighten up the security at all entry and exit points due to the constant threats from the Taliban.
