Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is in Thailand to attend the seventh India-ASEAN summit that begins on Saturday.

The high point of the summit will be prime minister's meeting with the Chinese premier Wen Jiabao.

This meeting comes against the backdrop of the war of words between the two countries over Arunachal Pradesh border issue and Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama's visit to the state.

There is also tricky issue of China building a dam on its side of the Brahmaputra, which could have adverse impact on Indian states downstream.

India has also asked China not to make investments in the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Sources on the Indian side have said that the meeting would provide an opportunity for addressing outstanding issues like the border row.
