Obama signs $7 billion aid bill to Pak
Associated Press, Thursday October 15, 2009, Washington
US President Barack Obama has signed a bill that gives $7 billion in aid to Pakistan over five years, a measure that the nuclear-armed US ally's military had claimed was an intrusion into the nation's internal affairs.

The White House said the aid package signed on Thursday provides $1.5 billion annually for economic and social programs as the Obama administration works to shore up Pakistan's return to civilian rule and to encourage it in the fight against Taliban and Al-Qaida militants.

The extremists hold strongholds inside Pakistan, especially along the border with Afghanistan where the United States is in the eighth year of a war.

US wants to maintain a balance in the region they cannot let one country become powerful. They are supporting india so that india can keep a check on china, they are supporting pakistan so that pakistan that keep the pressure on india. This way the balance is maintained protects there strategic interests. If indians like it or not the fact is US is always going to support pakistan. So just live with it.

US is know for such tactics... while they are fully aware that Taliban is trailing guns it is surprising to note Pak is getting such Aid from US. Pak has not control on the situation and you can rest assured the money will reach the wrong hands to wage war with us. If US is really interested in peace in this region they should not send any Aid package to Pak until the situation improves.
