There is finally more information about what target David Headley and Tahawwur Hussain Rana were plotting to attack in India. The US government now says Rana and Headley had picked out a military site in Delhi. The new charges were filed as Rana appeared at a bond hearing at the federal court in Chicago. According to the latest information filed by the prosecution in court today, Tahawwur Rana and David Headley - the Chicago businessmen who have been linked to a plot to attack the Danish newspaper that published controversial cartoons about the Prophet Muhammad also discussed the possibility of attacking the National Defence College in New Delhi.

The US government has recorded conversations of Headley, and Rana - a Canadian national who was born in Pakistan, discussing the possibility of an attack on the NDC, which provides training to top Defence and Civil Services officers in national and international security.

The new court filing also says Rana, who operates a Chicago immigration service, e-mailed advice to a member of the Lashkar-e-Taiba on how to bring people into the US illegally (Headley's associate helped illegal Pak immigrants). The hearing was attended by a small group of Rana supporters who say he is innocent and hope that the entire episode won't reflect badly on Chicago's large Muslim community.

"This community is a peaceful community. They're even more friends of America than other people," Akthar Athar, a friend of Tahawwur Rana.

In light of the new filing by the prosecution, and to give the Defence time to review these latest charges, the judge has put off the bond hearing until next Tuesday.
