As massive protests broke out at the climate change venue in Copenhagen, UN climate conference president and Danish Environment Minister Connie Hedegaard has resigned, and Danish premier is set to replace her.

Hedegaard has, however, said that she would continue to play a role in the negotiations.

Hedegaard had been criticised by African nations for favouring rich nations in the negotiations, and also came under fire after saying the delegates were behaving like schoolchildren.

These activists claim that talks have all but collapsed in the Danish capital. Scores of protesters marching towards the Bella center have been detained.
