Mumbai cinemas rattled by Sena threats to SRK's film

A thousand Shiv Sainiks have been taken into custody by the Mumbai police, but cinema-owners are not reassured that they’re safe from the party, which has threatened to attack any cinema showing Shah Rukh Khan’s My Name is Khan. Cinemax Cinemas have stopped advance bookings for the film, directed by Karan Johar and scheduled for release on Friday.

Rathore's bail plea adjourned till March 10

A local court on Wednesday adjourned till March 10 the hearing on the appeal of SPS Rathore against the six-month sentence in the Ruchika molestation case taking into cognizance that the former Haryana DGP was still recovering from the assault on him two days back.Additional District and Sessions Judge R S Attri said the case would be taken up for hearing on three consecutive days from March 10. 68-year-old Rathore and his lawyer-wife Abha were present during the proceedings.

600 flights cancelled in Chicago

A severe winter storm that dropped 7-12 inches of snow through the Chicago area resulted in cancellation of nearly 600 flights at the city's airports on Wednesday.Snowfall continued throughout Tuesday and more snow is expected on Wednesday. The winter storm dumped 7-12 inches of snow on the city and suburbs, affecting visibility on the roads.Illinois Department of Transportation asked motorists to use public transportation instead of hitting the road as a measure of safety.

Jammu Sepoy killed in Gulmarg avalanche

In the Gulmarg avalanche tragedy, another sepoy who was part of the training camp also died. He is Sepoy Raj Kumar of the 11 Dogra Regiment. His family is awaiting his body on Wednesday. Meanwhile, bodies of 17 Army men who were killed in an avalanche on Monday have been brought to Srinagar late night on Tuesday.

Teen father of Palin’s grandson poses nude

The teen father of Sarah Palin's grandson is featured on the cover of the upcoming print version of Playgirl magazine - sporting nothing but a sultry gaze. The nude photos of Levi Johnston - the 19-year-old former fiance of Palin's daughter - were a huge hit last fall on the magazine's Web site. The publisher expects the same results with other photos from the same shoot running in the newly resurrected print version available February 22 on newsstands.

India wants 'credible answers' on Oz attacks

Concerned over a series of attacks on its nationals, India today sought "credible answers" from Australia so that it could send a clear message to worried parents of more than 120,000 Indian students here. "It is important to understand that there is anger and frustration in India over what is happening (in Australia)," Indian High Commissioner Sujatha Singh said in an article published in the Age newspaper here.

Delhi University student found dead in hostel

A second year visually impaired student, Mukesh was found hanging at one of the rooms in Hansraj college hostel of Delhi University. Police have confirmed it’s a case of murder. Sagarprit Hooda, DCP (North) said, "The body was found hanging from the ceiling fan with his hands tied."

BJP asks for donations for Indore conclave

Preparations for the forthcoming BJP National Convention in Indore are underway. The party conclave later this month will be held in tents, five-star tents though, all in the name of austerity.
