Gagan Narang wins double gold

Indian shooter Gagan Narang on Friday clinched two gold medals at the Asian Air Gun Shooting Championships at Doha.

Gagan shot an impressive qualification score of 597 which included series of 99, 99, 100, 100, 100 and 99 and then followed it with an equally impressive final score of 104.0 to register a total of 701.0 in a strong field of 24 shooters.

He beat China's Zhu Qinan, who had won a silver medal at the Beijing Olympics. Qinan had shot a score of 700.7 (596+104.7) but had to be content with the silver medal. The bronze medal was won by Shengbo Zhao of China with a score of 698.4 (595+103.4).

Gagan Narang, along with PT Raghunath and Sanjeev Rajput, won the team gold with a score of 1782, silver was won by China 1779, while Bronze was won by Iran with a score of 1764.

In the junior men's air rifle event, India's Chain Singh won the bronze with a score of 691.5 (591+100.5).

golden double for indian heroes. Keep india proud at every games. While chinese are catching up, india needs to train more of such top winners.
