Mayo College closes because of swine flu

The Mayo Girls school in Ajmer and the Mayo College have both shut down after 10 students were found to be H1N1 positive in the girls school. There has been a huge spurt in H1N1 cases in Rajasthan. In the past two weeks alone, about 693 cases have been reported in the state. Jaipur has been worst hit with 605 cases of which more than 240 are school children.

Swine flu scare in Jaipur

With swine flu patients in Jaipur doubling over night, there is a swine flu scare in the city. Of the 61 cases that went in for testing on Thursday, 41 tested positive, and of these 20 were students from the Sawai Mansingh School in Jaipur. The school has been shut, but parents in other schools are worried.

Spicy Indian curries could prevent swine flu and common cold just like any prescribed medicine available with the chemists, Russian doctors have said. "You can strengthen immunity by consuming spicy foods like curries, as spices like turmeric, ginger and zeera also posses excellent therapeutic effect," an unnamed official of Moscow city sanitary and anti-epidemics committee was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti.

Narendra Modi's condition improves

The condition of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who is suffering from swine flu, has improved overnight, doctors attending on him said on Saturday. "His temperature has started coming down and cold and cough is also improving," virologist Atul Patel, one of the five doctors treating Modi, said.

Narendra Modi gets swine flu

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has been diagnosed with swine flu. A spokesperson for the Gujarat government says Modi will be kept in isolation for seven days. For any emergency, he will be available over the phone for consultation. A special team of doctors has been formed to attend to him. His supporters have chipped in with a special puja.
