Spicy Indian curry could prevent swine flu
Press Trust of India, Friday November 6, 2009, Moscow
Spicy Indian curries could prevent swine flu and common cold just like any prescribed medicine available with the chemists, Russian doctors have said.

"You can strengthen immunity by consuming spicy foods like curries, as spices like turmeric, ginger and zeera also posses excellent therapeutic effect," an unnamed official of Moscow city sanitary and anti-epidemics committee was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti.

As panic grips Muscovites over the spread of seasonal influenza and swine flue in the eastern parts of the country and neighbouring Ukraine, authorities are focusing on prevention and have ordered the use of masks at work place.

Besides the intake of spicy food, people have been advised to consume raw onions and garlic, which also are said to contain good anti-viral properties.

The mass vaccinations are expected to begin in Russia only from November 9, when the remaining clinical trails would be completed.

Use of Turmeric, Ginger, Onions and Garlic proves to be anti-viral, anti-bacteria. My Grandma/Mother used to give Turmeric toned Milk for throat infection and dry cough. After a long journey or tiresome work, my mother cooks Garlic and Pepper Kozhambu to get relief from Body Ache and Bak Ache which relieves us from Pain and Back Ache. Our Indian Mams and Grandmas though they are not educated, are great naturopathist. They are using these technics from their ancestors. But we in our generation go behind westernised food and in turn inviting all sorts of problems to our health. This kind of information news should be given First Page importance in all our Newspapers to bring more awareness to those western slaves.

Use ginger, turmeric, onions and garlic which have proven anti-viral, anti-bacterial properties judiciously in our menu. It is confirmed that exercise and exposure to sunlight which can ensure a steady production of Vitamin D are essential preventive measures against flu's of all types including swine flu.
