We wanted freedom to live life and court gave us that: Gays
Press Trust of India, Friday July 3, 2009, New Delhi

Gay rights activists hugged, kissed and patted each other in ecstasy and tears rolled down their cheeks on hearing the Delhi High Court verdict legalising homosexuality among consenting adults.

"The judgement is unbelievable. We sought freedom to live life which the court granted today. We do not want to lie to our family members as this is an instinct," said Anu, one of the gay activists present in the courtroom when the verdict was pronounced.

"Gay sex is not a criminal act. The society should accept the relationship between two adults from the same gender and treat them in the mainstream," she said while other activists kissed each other.

"It's just fantastic," a foreigner present in the court was heard saying as many of them could not control their emotions and lost words to express their feelings.

However, some maintained calm like Lok Prakash and said, "The High Court verdict is an acknowledgement about the existence of a special community in society and I am very happy the court supported us."

A few transgenders present in the court also exchanged greetings with each other. Outside the courtroom, they expressed their gratitude to their lawyers for the 'spectacular victory'.

When mediapersons sought their reaction and a photo session in the court complex, a few of them claimed themselves as couple and posed for perfect photo.

We should first acknowledge God's opinion as any other opinion is influenced by one's own likes or dislikes and prejudices.God being completely pure and the source of everything, His opinion matters the most. In the Bhagavad Gita, we are taught that we are not these bodies made of matter, but pure spirit souls(i.e pure consciousness)trapped in these bodies. This is very easy to understand as we see that when someone dies, the physical body and the brain is very much still present, but the person is gone. So, what is Missing here? It is our real self the Pure consciousness, i.e. in other words the soul. Human life is meant for Self Realisation. Self realisation means to understand who we are, who God is and what our relationship with God. This is very important as one who reestablishes His/her relationship with God has to no more suffer the pangs of birth, death, old age and disease and thus acheives an eternal life free from all misery. To acheive eternal life, one has to follow the instructions of Bhagavad Gita. If we instead indulge in what the senses of the body demands, then in the next life we get a body according to our present activities. Those desires which were not fulfilled yet at the time of death also determines the kind of material body we will get in our next life. Thus, we are born again in a material body(not necessarily as a Human, could be any form of life) to satisfy our unfulfilled desires and thus we continue to suffer birth, death, old age and disease and this cycle continues on and on till we surrender to Krishna's instruction. The oppertunity to acheive an eternal life is possible only in the human form of life. Krishna being a Loving father of everyone gives us an oppertunity to indulge in what we desire. But, at the same time He expects us to voluntarily Love Him. If someone loves someone, then they should be willing to do and act in a manner that is pleasing to the beloved. Krishna doesn't force anyone to listen to Him as pure love is unconditional. Also, if one is forced to Love, then it is not really Love. Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita says sex for producing God conscious children is allowed. Gay sex violates this principle and it perpetuates misery as they identify themselves as this body that needs to be gratified. Hence, those who indulge in these unnatural forms of sexual activity and those who promote it and support it are actually extending the suffering of the living beings. Thus, it is very important to understand that we will continue to suffer if we indulge in what the body or the senses of the body demands without considering the implications of such activities. Thus, legalising gay sex simply extends the sufferings of those living beings who act on their sensual demands.

High Court gives encouragement for wrong direction in the society. This is unnatural because we did not find this kind of behavior in animals,
