Vijaykant on fast for Tamil fishermen
NDTV Correspondent, Tuesday September 29, 2009, New Delhi

Actor-turned-politician and chief of DMDK Vijaykant is observing a fast at the Jantar Mantar in Delhi on Tuesday to highlight the issue of Indian fishermen being attacked by Sri Lankan navy.

Recently, DMK and Congress MPs from Tamil Nadu met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president and Sonia Gandhi on this issue seeking India's intervention.
Vijaykant says the new Ravana is Sri Lankan President Rajapakse and Indian government should find a solution to this issue.

Yesterday PM and Sonia Gandhi participated in Dussehra celebrations to see the end of evil. Today the latest Ravana is Rajapakse. Tamil fishermen are harassed. Then why shouldn't Indian Navy help our fishermen? Why no one is taking care of them?" said Vijaykant, chief of DMDK.

The govt. should definitely take a note of the attacks on the innocent fishermen and should take concrete steps to protect them. Aren't we taking care of the Sri Lankan fishermen who knowingly or unknowingly entered our territorial waters.
