Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Varun Gandhi's security has been the topmost issue since Wednesday, after intelligence reports said there's threat to his life.
Varun had in fact written to the Home Minister requesting an upgradation of his security.
"In light of the current controversy, I would like to request that there be a review of the threat perception to me and my security status be accordingly be upgraded. Given the volatile election atmosphere, I seek your urgent consideration in this regard. In view of the family history, I feel sure you will appreciate the gravity of the situation," the letter dated March 20 said.
The Home Minister replied the same say saying, "I have received your letter dated 20th march 2009 regarding upgradation of your security. The officer concerned in the ministry is being asked to look into the matter for appropriate action."
