Singing Vande Mataram not un-Islamic: Gujarat DGP
NDTV Correspondent, Sunday November 15, 2009, Ahmedabad
There seems to be no end to the Vande Mataram controversy. After the Jamiat-e-Ulema Hind urged Muslims not to sing the national song, the Gujarat DGP - a Muslim - says singing the national song is not un-Islamic.

"It is equally important to know that saying 'Vande Matram' is not against Islam. Based on my understanding of Islam and the Holy Quran, I would say that singing Vande Matram should be a matter of pride for all Indian Muslims, an action of respecting the values of Islam," he said.

The Jamiat, one of the largest groups of Muslim clerics in the country, had recently endorsed the decree of Darul Uloom seminary at Deoband asking the Muslims not to recite Vande Mataram as it went against the tenets of their faith in monotheism.

The Jamiat move has come in the backdrop of some states like BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh introducing singing of Vande Mataram in government-run schools.

First of all "Gujarat DGP-a muslim" is not representing Islam. Media should not justify a personal opinion into global. I'll request the everybody to know Islam properly. "Vande Mataram" means "Vandana of Mother". In Islam, every person should show love, affection, obedience and take good care of mother as much as he can. This may be applicable for any motherland. But as far as "Vandana" is concern, human being is allowed to do "Vandana" only for "allah/God/the supreme creator/the sustainer". Not any mother or motherland has the right to get "Vandana" of human being. This right is reserved only by Allah/God. If any muslaman is doing "Vandana" of anything or anyone with or without Allah/God is doing a great "Shirk", for "Violation" of guidance/direction of God/Allah. "Shirk" is considered to be the greatest sin among all sins by Allah/God. Anything "Shirk" is un-Islamic. Philosophy of "Vandana" is different for different religions and this particular philosophy is against the core value of Islam. Therefore "Vande Mataram" is purely non-Islamic. Allah is the creator of the man who created "Vande Matarm". Allah is the creator of those people who approved "Vande Mataram". Allah is the creator of all mothers in this earth & Allah is the creator of our home land earth. Allah is the creator of this Universe. Then why do someone go to for "Vande Matarm", instead logically it should be "Vande Allah".
