Shiney shares cell with Abu Salem
Press Trust of India, Friday July 3, 2009, Mumbai

Bollywood actor Shiney Ahuja, held on charges of raping his domestic help, has been examined by a doctor and is feeling better, jail sources said on Friday.

The actor had on Thursday complained to a local court that he was not keeping well.

"There is nothing wrong with the actor's health except that he was feeling a little depressed," the sources said.

Ahuja, 36, was arrested on June 15 after his 20-year-old domestic help accused him of raping her while they were alone at his residence in suburban Oshiwara the previous day.

The actor has been lodged in a cell along with former underworld don, Abu Salem. He has spent most of the time in jail with the former gangster except for a brief period recently when Salem was taken to Hyderabad in connection with a passport forgery case.

Shiney does indoor exercises in jail and shares a good rapport with Salem, the sources said.
The actor had performed the lead role in film 'Gangster' which focuses on Abu Salem.

Jail sources said the former don is very much impressed with the role played by Shiney in the film and has a soft corner towards him.
