Reports say Denmark got to quiz Headley
NDTV Correspondent, Friday March 19, 2010, Chicago
davidheadleyphoto.jpgAs India pours over the fine-print of David Coleman Headley's 36-page plea agreement to see what kind of access Indian investigators will have to the Lashkar-e-Toiba operative, it now seems Danish Intelligence has already had access to him.

A Danish reporter told NDTV that an Intelligence official had said as much. Claus Blok Thomsen of the Politiken said the Danish Head of Intelligence had said in a press conference that after Headley's arrest in October he sent some Danish officials to the US to talk to him.

IANS adds: Reports say the Danish authorities were able to question Headley in connection with the plot to bomb the office of the Jyllands-Posten newspaper which had published a cartoon about the Prophet Mohammed that Muslims around the world found offensive.

Thursday's plea agreement assures Headley that he will not be extradited to India, Pakistan or Denmark.

india has been so far denied any access to Headley ,the LAshkar-e-toiba operative, for investigating his involvement in 26/11 terrorist attack in Mumbai. The united states has always shown double standards in dealing with such cases. They are entering into a plea bargain deal with Headley ,may envisage a lighter sentence for him .Indian Govt should register a strong protest to America in case he gets a lighter sentence. India has been trying hard for his extradition ,but in view of pleading guilty ,this would not be possible ,because in case he is jailed ,the convict cannot be extradited unless he completes the jail term. So India could only depend upon his own resources to find the truth and fight terrorism alone .Though Usa has assured full co-operation to india in countering terror,in line with historic agreement reached between president Obama and Prime MInister Manmohan singh ,but it could hardly matter as Usa policy makers are treating nothing higher than their own national interest. Our politicians should take a cue and try to not compromise for their national Interests
