Priyanka Gandhi's child campaigner dies
Press Trust of India, Saturday November 14, 2009, Lucknow
The 14-year-old national president of Bal Congress, launched during the Lok Sabha polls in May this year by Priyanka Vadra, succumbed to burn injuries in Lucknow.

"Abhishek Jaiswal of Lalganj (Raebareli) suffered burn injuries in a fire that broke out in his house last month. He was shifted here after his condition deteriorated. He died on November 11," party sources said.

"As soon as the reports reached Priyanka, she got in touch with the grieving family members and sent brother Rahul and mother Sonia Gandhi's local representative Kishori Lal Sharma to personally meet them," Chief of the UPCC media cell Akhilesh Pratap Singh said.

Priyanka had floated the Bal Congress during Lok Sabha polls to involve children into the party fold and make them aware of various issues and their rights, Singh said.

She also enrolled her children, Rehan and Maira as founder members of Bal Congress.
