Prabhakaran's death: Repercussions in TN
NDTV Correspondent, Tuesday May 19, 2009, Chennai

The news of LTTE chief Prabhakaran's death is showing its repercussions in Tamil Nadu.

In Salem district, activists belonging to Centre for Protection of Civil Liberties indulged in arson, damaging buses and forcing shops to be shut. Police have arrested around thirty of them.

On Monday night, in Tirunelvelli pro-Tamil activists even threw petrol bombs at the BSNL office and the district court buildings soon after unconfirmed reports of Prabhakaran's death came in.

While that war raged in Lanka, the politicians in India had made it an election issue. And the issue is still very much alive.

On Tuesday, DMK MP and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi said it's important to ensure that Tamils get their rights.

Meanwhile, a leading US daily has also asked Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa to guarantee the rights of Tamils for lasting peace in the country after the defeat of the rebels.

"If he (Rajapaksa) is to ensure that Sri Lanka leaves behind the violence that has plagued it for so long, he will have to sponsor a political process that is fully inclusive and democratic and that guarantees the rights of Tamils under a peaceful rule of law," 'The Washington Post' said in an editorial.

In my article published in the ASIAN TRIBUNE dated August 15,2007(VELUPILLAI PRABHAKARAN-A HERO OR A BIG ZERO?) I had predicted that Prabhakaran cannot achieve Eelam. But my prediction that the Lankan army cannot kill him has been proved incorrect(I had predicted that he would be killed by his own men or he would commit suicide). It is interesting to note that Rajiv Gandhi and Premadasa were killed in the month of May.Prabhakaran also has been killed in May. The date 18 is also significant.Mahinda Rajapaksa was born on November 18,1945. The name Sri Lanka carries the occult number 18. Also,Eelam bears the occult number 18. 18 adds up to 9(1 8=9) Rajapaksa is now 63 years(6 3=9). Rajapaksa belongs to the Zodiacal Sign of Scorpio ruled by 9 It is quite note-worthy that Rajapaksa could win the war against LTTE at the age of 63. Eventhough the war on terrorism has been won,Rajapaksa has a herculean task ahead to win the hearts of Tamil people. So,his government should not get intoxicated by the present victory.Remember,Prabhakaran dead will be more dangerous than the Prabhakaran alive!

Activists belonging to Centre for Protection of Civil Liberties in Salem are promoting protection of civil liberties, by indulging in arson, damaging buses and forcing shops to be shut. What an irony !!!
