Pak terror attack: Implications for India
NDTV Correspondent, Thursday October 15, 2009, New Delhi
The latest spate of terror attacks in Pakistan could be a big worry for India; if it's Lahore today, it could be Amritsar or other Indian cities tomorrow.

First, it was the audacious attack on the Pakistan Army Headquarters in Rawalpindi last week, and now it was the turn of Lahore.

The targets were the heart of the Pakistani establishment. The Taliban executed the operations with ease and maximum impact. It was almost unthinkable that their one time patrons -- the Army -- would also be a target.

Watching nervously was New Delhi and Washington, wondering whether the civilian government in Pakistan is fast losing grip of the situation?

Indian officials are particularly concerned that the Taliban reached just 16 km from the Wagah border. In Delhi, the Home Minister said they were deeply concerned.

The question now is -- will these terror attacks put the Pakistan-US plans of a major terror offensive in Wazirstan against the Taliban on the backburner?

For the last 20 years,India is being bled with sickening frequnecy by the Pakistan sponsored terrorists. We continue to cry in front of Americans and other western powers like a child cries in front of parents, when he/she is bullied by the bad boys. We forget a very basic principle of survival that it is we and we alone who should have the will and the grit not only to defend ourselves but also hit back ,when the opportunity comes our way.We are such a large and powerful nation but always behave like a scared child. Diplomatically,it may be quite necessary to continue to share the developments with our friends and well wishers in the international community but we must develop a national policy on terrorism and also develop the means and the will to implement such policy that we shall not tolerate even one such attack in future and for every Indian life ,the enmy will have to pay with three lives.I will not blame Pakistan because they have their own policy regardless of the type of Govt. that they will continue to bleed India and continue to deny it and they are doggedly implementing this policy. However,we like proverbial ostrich have burried our head in sand and continue to have hopes that Pakistan will someday realize its folly and put a stop to this policy. In the background of this, these horrendous and abhorable terror attackes in Pakistan by the frankestien monesters craeted by them, may albiet serve this purpose to jolt Pakistan and make them relize that when you ride a tiger, there is alawys a risk of you getting swallwed by it.Of course we in India absolutely condemn these attacks in Pakistan because India and Pakistan are like tied together with r 60 years amblical chord. What is happening today in Paiksistan is sure going to have very serious consequences for India and we for heavens sake should be vigilant, ever so now.

It is unbelievable, that army head quarters where the security of the county depends upon is under attack. But as far as Pakistan is concerned, its very tough to believe that their own trained men are attacking. some times I feel whether these are the rehearsals / training pakistan is giving to these terrorists so that they can attack with the same strategy in India. We as neighbours should be more careful / vigilant as all the eyes in this world are on India, which is getting stabilised day by day. India is like Israel surrounded by countries who are enemies. Its high time we learn from Israel and be merciless when dealing with erring neighbours.
